Nice Cossack :p, is it all original?.As far as Vintovka Mosina' go thats like the Holy Grail .I fancy an Imperial Mosin myself but have my eye on an original PU sniper at the moment.

I fear not, it as been re-arsenaled to 91/30 spec and dropped into a wartime ex-sniper stock.

Still pretty cool though I think

Original non re-furbed Ka3 cossacks fetch a pretty penny!

If you can find one...

Mine was not particularly pricey, in fact it was cheap for a standard 91/30 as I'm pretty sure they didn't know what the marking was, (to be fair I didn't either until I'd bought it and started doing more research). There is a guy on a US forum who has been researching the Cossack rifles in collectors hands and, I think, the number of updated like mine known is only is single figures - there's not many more original or Finn captured about either.

I suspect there are, in fact, a good number out there somewhere unidentified and unappreciated - perhaps, like mine was, sitting in a Russian arsenal waiting to be sold wholesale

I looked at a couple not so long back and also found a very nice 1915 Westinghouse but my mate waved his Dragunov under my nose and that was that. The PU I've got my eye on appears to be a nice arsenal refurb that was supposedly re-issued and used in Chechnya in the mid Nineties so has got some history attached to it and is a good price so watch this space

So, resurrecting this elderly thread, I rang my FEO who suggested I write in to her superior enclosing a covering letter and my FAC assuring me it wouldn't be a problem - got around to writing in about 2 weeks back (needed licence handy for a bit as I had a slot which needed to be filled first - thank you Highwood!), and had a call from the licensing dept this morning to ask if I wanted to shoot the named rifles (yes) as they were printing the amended licence which I should get tomorrow, (royal snail permitting)!

Astonishingly enough the licence arrived with today's post and even appears to be correct!

No visit as yet to discuss, though I s'pose it wasn't that long ago that FEO was here anyway for the change of address
