In the '88 semi auto ban, I got the princely sum of £150 "compensation" for the loss of my M1 Garand. Probably a little more than 30 pieces of silver, but their betrayal is still as far reaching.... Feckers!

Nice collections Neil.

I still like the look of the rifles but I'd prefer them the way they were intended to be (and of course, that's not an option over here).
Just my opinion and every man to his own as always.

I could not agree more, but you put up with things to be able to shoot one. It's only like those who want to shoot pistol they now have to be long barrelled and a bar sticking out the back, to be allowed to be used in the UK, or have a muzzle loader. We had one of the first 1911 .22rf lookalikes hated it sold it.

I like WW1&2 style of rifles only other option was to get a deact...... welded solid not for me...
The bad thing about being new to shooting is that I never got to own or shoot any "proper" pistols and original "un-barstewardised" semi-auto rifles.

The good thing about being new to shooting is that I never got shoot any "proper" pistols and semi-auto rifles so all these "coat hanger" pistols and altered straight pull rifles look great fun to me as I don't have any great memories of the good 'ol days.

It's a double edged sword... :)

Er Yes, well apart from the M1 carbine which we got from ITL, who got it from Suffolk Rifles in the first place so we were told.

Cracking bunch of rifles there Neil, loving the restocked Garand mate! Regarding Straight pull conversions/new builds, I am with you Neil, not perfect, but we must make the best of what we have, the situation has improved somewhat regarding SP's, with plenty of choice now thanks to the likes of Neal Parnham.

Not perfect perhaps, but a SP Garand is still a delight to shoot and 100% better than no Garand!

Very nice rifles there Mr B, that Garand looks lovely :good:. out of curiosity what the extraction like on them?.

For me personally if the only way I can have a particular rifle is as a straight pull then I'll take it rather than not having one at all.For me the fact my Dragunovs for example are straight pull doesn't detract from the pleasure I get from shooting them as they aren't the type of rifle you'd fire a hundred rounds a minute through anyway. With a growing interest in military type straight pulls we may see more being developed as lever or trigger release off the back of it which can't be a bad thing.I'd gladly give a kidney for a lever or trigger release Dragunov or SVT-40.......or a FAL!.
