Wow! They must have really wanted it at that price! Perhaps it was destined for export? I know that the Grifone is particularly rare in the US.

A blued 357 with somewhat abused furniture and a few scratches here-and-there went at the last Holts sealed bid auction for £430(ish). I put a speculative low bid in but didn't win.

It might have been £2500, all I can remember it was over a grand and was around 2012-2013 period, possibly even 2011. All I know is at least one 454 casuall grifone is in the wild in the UK. And I'm not making it up, it was in 454. Possibly export. It was Cotswold arms that imported them if I remember? Many years before I got my FAC as a teen with no firearms of his own, used to get gunmart and I remember Cotswold's adverts and them selling all sorts of stuff. The one that sticks in my mind is some Grifone's and Redhawk's at £450 quid at the time (those were the days wallhead).

Tell you something weird I have seen for sale. ITL shooting in suffolk has a 22lr Auto Ordnance Thompson with a 10 round, 30 round and a 50 mag with it. £2500.

The Grifone was definitely available in UK spec chambered in 454 Casull. I've linked an interesting article/review from back in the day below.

Is what I said cursing? I just mentioned it as an example of something crazy priced I'd seen that I did not believe it was worth it. Plus I'm wondering now if Cotswolds were the ones that brought that model in? Any know how on that? I'll read the article, but I never got Shooting sports back in the day when I was 12-13 year old. It was mainly gun mart for me.

Cotswold Arms were named in the article as the then distributor of the Grifone. Original retail's quoted as £653 - although it doesn't state for which spec.

P.S. I was just pulling your leg about the Thompson.

I've read it. A 30 carbine model is mentioned too. Seen any of those about? Also the Cotswold arms dealer mentioned is Gareth Murfin. Off topic but didn't he leave RFDing due to Gloucestershire police harassing him to court over claims he was selling straight pulls that were down converted when they weren't (the proof house had proofed them as straight pulls) and the case along with the Guy Savage one set the law down for what was 100% legal as far as straight pulls, Lever releases, MARs, more LBPs were?

Off topic a bit, but remember Murfin was the dealer and what happened to him always troubled me. I'm still curious to know also if a 30 carbine model would need moon clips or not?
