I wouldn't worry too much, it's the non-attendees who no one in the club remembers who are the real problem. Besides if your comps at Bisley were NRA run there will be a record of the attendance.

I don't keep a shooting log but I do record barrel life of the full-bore rifles and one or two competition small-bore rifles. I also record on the NRA members' portal most of my Bisley visits and the rifles used.

But to be fair come renewal I've never been asked to prove the use of any firearm and I don't know what info the NRA give to the police, they would only know about a few of my rifles and their use at Bisley (and that info I have told them myself so in theory I could have made it up) so I don't know how much stock you can take of the figures. I guess it is just to show you do shoot at least a few times a year and you are not a sad loner sitting at home with a gun and never going to the range.

well its like with the range logs, its not like you are recording serial number, or the club is verifying those rifles were used. If you wanted to you could probably put a different caliber each visit and no one would know.

I mean who here has more than one .22 rifle, but I bet in the log, you just write .22, but who's to say which of your .22's it was.

The Feo could question you on your ability to take humane headshots.

The last range I shot at asked for serial number of my rifle and my FAC number. My home range just wants the type, So .22 etc.

I've found the best thing to do is to enter a few competitions. Keep the results sheets and pull them out if asked. Otherwse just keep a shooting diary logging where and when you shot. If everything else is OK most FEOs will be happy with that.

My club only reports non attenders to the Police each year. I'm told that regular attendance will keep the Police happy and that they are not too fussed which actual rifles you are using, its only on very very rare occasions that they ask for evidence and thats usually in relation to some other problem.
So, I will keep my own log, photograph signing in sheets at other ranges on my phone etc just to be safe.

The point of contact for any inquiry will be your primary club. My FEO suggested including all my shooting in my primary club records (at other clubs I only record activity for that club).

I had a simple activity database so I could select a rifle, club, date, distance, ammo batch & round-count after each shoot. It can generate a report for each club or for all clubs combined. Periodically or at the end of the year I print and sign each page, then lodge into the club file. The simple activity database has since been merged into my complicated ammo database, so that by doing the steps above it also keeps track of loaded round stock per batch, available empty cases by batch and times-fired, barrel counts (plus the load data including which dies were used with any pertinent settings etc, component stock and cost and many more details).

Plus I keep a detailed log of each shoot and reloading. The FEO glazes over after a while ...
