if it actually a safe, hinges on the outside shouldn't be an issue, as the door loks all around, the hinge only supports the door to open it. removing the hinge doesn't mean you can pull the door out like on a houshold door.

A closer look reveals that picture 4 on this listing shows hinge blocks, so this would meet the criteria.

The main thing to look for is the internal depth (front to back).. scoped rifles generally need something around 300mm
This is the one I have along with 2 bratton sounds, I prefer the Buffalo River safe and would buy another.
Looking at the Buffalo myself just out of interest do you find the ammo compartment big enough? It looks fairly small in the few images I could find.

It is pretty small... if you have enough rifles to fill it, you'll probably need a separate ammo cabinet...

I use my old pistol cabinet for ammo now and even that was getting too small, particularly now as i'm reloading 3 calibres and the MTM boxes take up more space.... then I realised the pistol cabinet has a locking top ammo box, that I wasn't using..! So now .22 ammo in the top box, CF ammo in the bottom.

I have an 8/9 "extra deep" gun INFAC cabinet and while I agree they're nice cabinets, especially for the price, the advertised capacity is definitely for double barreled shotguns. I'd say mine would hold 4, possibly 5 'normal' scoped rifles. The problem I have is that most of my guns are too short for the inbuilt gun rack/separator!

The depth is definitely what you have to look for

I have the buffalo 10 gun and I have 5 scoped rifles and 1 O/U shotgun in it and it's full
The internal ammo safe is big enough to store the bolts for the rifles
Ammo is stored in separate safe
I like that at the side of the internal safe is a removeable shelf that allows rifles with up to 32" barrels to be stored

Thanks, will keep that in mind.
