At one point I recall the BSSC petitioning to extend Home Office club approval for the use of long barrelled pistols and section 1 shotguns. This would mean we could do proper training and safety awareness.

Does anyone know if this made it into the bill?

Agreed, I'm looking to get a section 2 model of my shotgun. But the long barrelled pistol situation is a legal farce.

So as this is now law does that mean you can purchase expanding ammo on a section 1 certificate? Or will it take time for RFD's to come round?

It's got assent but the home office guidelines on the matter haven't been published and BASC stated they don't expect them to appear until the summer.

The Bill has Royal Assent and is thus an Act of Parliament.

However, the clauses relating to firearms will only come into effect (like most of the 200-odd clauses dealing with all sort of stuff) when the S of S lays an Order before Parliament setting a date. This is so that the various Government departments can write the Regulations that will be required to make the law work to come into effect at the same time. Don't expect the firearms stuff to be effective before, at a guess, autumn 2017.

I can think of a main RFD (trade & importer, plus retail) that insists .38 shotshells go on FAC, as they're"pistol calibre"
They presently also refuse to supply bullets under the tubular magazine exemption!
