It is interesting that the Hornady #2280 70 grain .227" bullets apparently work with the 1:12 twist barrel whereas I would expect at least a 1:10 twist for 70 grain .224" and I assume this is entirely down to length.
From memory they were stubby little things, more of a semi point than a sharp spritzer.
I spoke to Mike at westlander this morning on something else, he has the .228 70 grain soft point bullets in stock if you would like them.

No worries, he's the man to go to for obscure European reloading bits.
Nice guy to boot! :)
Looking forward to seeing your results, I have a hankering for a drilling in .22 savage/20 bore myself that needs fulfilling soon...

Some years back now I bought lots from the Range Office at NRA Bisley, so they may still have some. They were made by Sellier & Bellot, and work brilliantly in my pre-war Savage 99 at up to 300 yards. They were Full Metal jacket 70 grainers.

Bit of a bump, I am still trying to source 200-300 .227 bullets for the rifle and I prefer jacketed as I really am not set up for casting. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on this please?

How about paper patching some smaller bullets?

Roger, it did cross my mind however they are fiddly little things so I much prefer the correct jacketed bullets although I would take cast if someone had them.

Woohoo, I managed to find a couple of hundred Hornady 70 grain bullets courtesy of Oxford reloading Solutions which should keep things going for a while.

The finished article complete with the 70 grain Hornady bullet. As far as I know these were the last two boxes of Hornady .227" in the country which is not good news as it is a tremendous little rifle to shoot.
