I think the post has been taken down. (sounds familiar!)

That's exactly what the shooting community needs.
But coming from someone so divisive in the shooting community, someone willing to put target shooters on the back foot because he doesn't believe in it. It's pretty rich...
Yes, he right, but he's a monumental hypocrite to be saying it the way he is, and I agree with the poster who said they wouldn't trust him as far as they could kick him....

Re: Mike Yardley, he'll never change...
He's got a magnificent head of hair for a man of his age though.

This.
Michael Yardley can eff off as far as I'm concerned.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

I don't think he is right, if you take a pause to think about it you will realise that is a pointless exercise. The last thing we need is yet another representative organisation for UK shooting diluting the pool even further! For it to work would require the current organisations to merge or disband, that is hardly going to happen so the result would be adding yet another body to the mix saying they "Represent UK shooters".Daryll wrote:To be fair, I think hes right....
I would also be highly weary of any organisation that promotes itself based upon the US NRA. It is doomed to failure in Britain, sorry to be blunt but the vast majority of UK citizens regard the US NRA as a bunch of dangerous gun nut weirdos! Maybe a tad unfair but that is the public perception, any organisation that sets itself up to defend UK shooting using the US NRA as a model will be torn to shreds in the press.
What needs to happen is:
1) The UK NRA need to stop acting so much as the Bisley shooting club and start acting more like the Shooting governing body they are meant to be for all UK shooting
2) BASC and the Countryside alliance need to sort themselves out and merge, they have too close a remit and are diluting that part of the shooting world
3) The NRA and BASC need to work in a far more unified manner, or at least attempt to work together better for shooting interests
Probably could add much more to that list!
As for Yardley, the last thing I want is him doing anything more to represent our sport. A man who attacks service rifle shooters of the black rifle variety because of the bad image he perceives they give to shooting but is indignant that pictures of him like the one below in no way affect the sports public image show he is a hypocrite of the highest order:

Re: Mike Yardley, he'll never change...
I must admit it is a bit funny him begging the shooting organisations to allow him to defend the sport! It is his own fault, he was the one who burnt all the bridges and decided to attack shooting disciplines he himself deemed to be "Wrong".

It is totally unfair to be exact as most poepleknow nothing about the US NRA and what they REALLY do. .A pity that the vast majority believe the guff they read in the daily pap and the obvious bias by some UK shooters (not you personally of course).
THE US NRA (of which I am a member of many years and instructor BTW) has a range (no pun intended) of proper well laid out training courses and competitions that you can only dream about in the UK!
From all manner of firearms safety, firearm specific training courses, Instructor training courses, sport/ target shooting, personal safety, gun safety for kids, police firearms training PLUS they successfully defend the RIGHTS of ALL US citizens legally involved with guns.
Not sure how that can be compared with anything offered by a UK Association or club -IMO the US NRA is head and shoulders above anything in the UK. Just too bad that people believe the lies rather than the truth..

OK enough of that - just friendly banter - back to Yardley.

Political Correctness is the language of lies, written by the corrupt , spoken by the inept!
Re: Mike Yardley, he'll never change...
He may be right BUT he fails to see his own contribution to the problem.
By the way - the shooting he loves and wants to protect is NOT the same as the shooting I want to protect !

As I have said before, He is just a posh C**T. all him and his type care about is their pleasure.
I support any form of shooting ( except drive by ) and enjoy speaking with people who shoot another disciplines.
Sadly I have been to meetings where clay & game shooters have openly been hostile to any other form of shooting.
I find a lot of these people are selfish up themselves, the club for the old boys types. aaarggh
