I had this problem back in March. The application went in to Winchester, and 5 days later I get a letter telling me that I need to provide proof of use.
I rang in and they said this requirement had been in force for a couple of years.
Nowhere was it mentioned on any of the application paperwork.
A print-out of my NRA shooters history log for the previous 12 months was accepted.
If push came to shove, this could be cross referenced with the range signing-in log...............and my credit card statement!!

It seems many of you guys are put through the hoop by various forces. When I renewed this year Wiltshire sent me a letter to say I had no right to possess. I informed them I belong to three clubs and would a photo copy of the current club card be sufficient. They said yes. As far as I know they did not approach any of the clubs I belong to. They certainly did not contact either referees, My Doctor has not asked for any payment and there was no FEO inspection. It could not have been simpler. They even increased my ammunition allowance. They obviously accept that they ask the same questions and get the same answers time and again. Long may it last.

In early July I sent the forms and a copy of my certificate etc for my first renewal which is due in December.A couple of weeks back I put in for a one-for-one variation and sent my current certificate and the variation forms in and to my surprise my current certificate came back and they had also processed my new one a month and a half early and valid from the day my current one expires!, so that's me sorted until 2022 :D

I'm under West Mercia so well done to them goodjob
