Only formal number stipulated is 3, everything else is conjecture, supposition, assumption and folklore.

And that's 3 club visits and not 3 visits per gun held ? As far as plods concerned anyway?

Technically its the use of the gun (based on a single firearm held), as usual the Firearms act is so crap on this there is no rule. However at the same time there is no legal qualification for range visits so there is no way of identifying a rule for each.

We do a round count for each visiting shooter - they fill in a slip with numbers of rounds shot of which calibre, this is uploaded to their membership data so when they come round to renewals they can request at output shows each visit and how many rounds shot of each calibre which they send to the cops.

My FEO said good reason was 3 uses per firearm, per year. No stipulation of rounds through, could be 1 shot three times a year.

Each firearm possessed requires a separate “good reason” to acquire. Guidance states that Target shooters may be expected to use their firearms three or more times a year. Could you justify owning three rifles for target shooting when you’ve only ever used one?

It’s self explanatory I’d have thought...
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

And bingo was his name-o! :good:

I'll wager the clubs with rules stating you have to attend x number of shoots per year charge range fees (as well as/instead of, a membership fee). My clay club does this to ensure decent attendance and to keep the club economically viable.

Les wrote:One club I attend states that members should attend at least 6 times a year - it doesn't stipulate what firearm(s) you should use.

Another club stipulates that each listed firearm (that is usable at the club) needs to be used 6 times.

Our club just asks that you pay your membership fees on time!

What you use and how often is your concern as long as you fill in the attendance sheet for each visit.
(However, the Secretary does inform Plod of those members not attending during the year and those that haven't renewed their membership fees in a timely manner!!)

Mmm intresting that we have a scan card system that shows you have been turning up doubled with signing in details for outside range work but its not caliber detail specific, but i use some stuff more than others, the other day i was useing my buckmark pistol and trying a laser on it which just didnt work now as i had only took my pistol i was going to go home but i had a go with a few 22 club guns on the indoor range fantastic bit of fun getting a ruger 10/22 back in my hands after 10 yrs.
