At 18mpg she is a bit thirsty so would probably cost me about £100 in fuel if I behave myself!

Birmingham is a dump I avoid it at all costs.

Just back having spent 2 hours at the show. Last year I said i wasn't going again and I mean it this time.

Chaotic trying to get in when the doors opened, no system set up to get people in smoothly, those who had prepaid were jumbled up with those wanting to buy tickets.

Mainly caters for shotgun, airgun enthusiasts and clothes buyers, nothing wrong with that but it is cheaper to go to gun shops for full bore enthusiasts.

Only saw 2 outlets for ammunition, one had no 303 stock, the other had S&B at £1.20 a round!

Glad I am not going , and if I was even thinking about going . Falco would have put me off .

Roll on the Northern Show , cheaper , nicer area than the NEC , and they can do a decent fry up there !

Indeed all hail the northern show. Decent fry up. Police were there last year doing variations for the people in the area. 2 of the larger reputable vintage and classic gun dealers were. 2 dealers for ammo were there (I filled up on 22lr) and one was super cheap. Loads of clubs and society's were there. One of the buildings had craftsmen galore in there doing interesting stuff with guns.
All that said I spent most of my time watching the gun dog displays and hankering after a spaniel.
Worst bit was the wind. God's it can be cold outside at that showground

Went with eldest daughter, some interesting stuff, but I'm not a game shooter so perhaps not enough for me to warrant the journey. I did manage to look through a goodly number of scopes though, which was useful at the moment. Crowded too.

Strolled in at 11.30am - no queuing, easy parking. Still hadn't seen everything by 4.00pm so ended up in Weatherspoons for a pint and a chat with the guys.

For me it was a great day out, bumped into plenty of old mates, saw a few really nice new things (be sure to visit March Scopes if you go).

Nice to see the major manufacturers supporting the Show - Schmidt & Bender, Mauser, Blaser, Ruag, Leupold Leica, Browning etc etc.

In at 9 (well, when they finally opened the door 10 minutes late). Out at 13:30.
I thought it was pretty much the usual blend, but it felt a lot smaller and more cramped to me then at Stoneleigh. It was pretty crowded.

Enjoyed the day though.
