So does anybody know where I can get any of the stuff on my original post?

On the HKS ones the rounds are locked into place using the knob on the top, which is what you use to pull the speedloader out of the pouch... its all to easy to twist that knob as you pull it out and you end up with loose rounds laying in the pouch...

Back in the early days of practical shooting a guy called Brian Hughes used a 4 inch Smith & Wesson 28 and HKS speedloaders in comps with no problem .
I think he finished second in the first UKPSA British Open . He was faster on speedloads than most auto shooters.

He was heading for a top 10 finish in World Shoot 2 untill an ammo malfunction ruled him out of the running . I dont think he ever finished out of the top 10 in UK comps while he used the 28 .

Both Jeff Cooper and Ray Chapman both said they had never seen a faster revolver reload .

So there is nothing wrong with the HKS Speedloaders , its about the only speedloader you can throw onto a concrete floor and not damage , its about the only speedloader that will retain the ammo when its dropped or even thrown onto a concrete floor .

I think you can get HKS from the guy who distributes Alfa revolvers.

No, nothing wrong with them in those days, I'd agree, but at that time everyone would have been using 6-shooters. These days, you need more of an advantage as there are lots of moonclipped and >6 shot revolvers being used.

I've recently fitted my Taurus with a Shield Mini Sight red dot. The two advantages of that approach are less weight and a lower sight line.

I meant in revolver division, we were using S&W 686, 586 and 629 almost exclusively. No 7-shot, 8-shot revolvers. No .30 cal revolvers etc. as you see now.

I used an S&W m19 with a Douglas barrel. Went to a GP100 for a while, then went back to a Smith.

For giggles used a HiPower for a while then ran a Govt.

Went back to a Smith...

I started Practical Pistol in the early 90's, and I don't remember ever seeing anyone using a revolver...you guys must be old..
I started off with a HiPower, then got a S&W 745, (the IPSC commemorative version), then got a Glock 21 and never looked back...


I used a S&W 686 for the Police Pistol events with Jet loaders... they were great until, as said, you dropped them, then they exploded rounds everywhere..!

Anyone here remember Dave Smith from Essex? He was a demon with a revolver and was one of the ones who got me hooked on Practical.

There were enough revolver shooters at one time to have separate revolver and semi-auto Man v Man matches at Pistol A.D. (with full ladders!)

I shot a standard 686 for a few years, but then switched to more specialised revolvers for PPC shooting and semi-autos for practical.

If you were using a 586 or a 686 you were not there in the early days .

The revolver division was one of IPSC/UKPSA's many mistakes .
