I would guess The Gun Control Network are behind this piece of 'news'.
All they have to do is extract the data from HO statistics and send a customised version of the same press release to all the news desks around the country.
Lazy 'reporters' stick their name on it and publish it on their websites as 'news'.
After all, the GCN's mission statement is:
"Our mission is to progressively reduce the number of privately and publicly held guns in the UK and to eliminate the most dangerous of them. By so doing we will ensure that levels of gun violence continue to fall in the UK."

I didn't realise one gun was more dangerous than another. Frankly, I wouldn't want to be hit with a cricket ball, never mind .22 from a single shot bolt action rifle.
Infact, this is ridiculous: 'eliminate the most dangerous of them', a particular firearm isn't more dangerous than the next, it's the person that picks it up hence why we have a heavy vetting procedure in this country. A firearm is dangerous in the same way a car is dangerous if the driver isn't paying attention to the road or if someone picks up a brick and hits you with it.

Continue to fall? It rose after the pistol ban, dropped for a bit and then rose again. I can tell you these palm rubbers seem selective when London gets more dangerous than New York.
