Re: NRA re-issue of SCC cards
mine arrived today.
If you meet the NRA Criteria (course & or assessment, NRA clubx3 attendance, Entered some NRA events, RCO/CI) then you get a 4 year card valid if a member.
If you are an NRA member & submit a request for a club card to add extra classifications that is a separate card & is a 1 year card.
If you are a non member then you get a 1 year card if requested via a club. The club needs to have evidence of assessment in case its is audited & should have bought the NRA Safe cert course or had its own course NRA approved.
There was significant & blatant abuse by a small minority of people. Always the way.

Also, they would like you to have one for every club you shoot with as a member on MoD ranges.
This makes it easier from an admin point as far as I'm aware.

You are joking aren't you?Mattnall wrote:Also, they would like you to have one for every club you shoot with as a member on MoD ranges.

I have an NRA one but haven't asked for one from any of the clubs I am a member off as I thought the would cover me.
Having one for each club makes no sense and if it does it should be explained as to how.
As each card costs then that would be multiple charges for the same individual that sounds just like a scam.

Nope. I have one member who wanted HME on the list but we don't do that - he does it with another club, but they don't do black powder, while we do.dromia wrote: You are joking aren't you?
Phoned NRA on his behalf and they specifically said he'd need a card via each club. aaarggh
There must be a better way!

Re: NRA re-issue of SCC cards
Unfortunately Dromia, I was told it is true, and partly for the reasons above.
If you are an NRA (Individual) member there will be no cost for the individual or the club. If you are not an individual member then that is where the per capitation fee comes in, and this is paid by all clubs for which a non-NRA member shoots that requires an SCC.
For instance if you shoot black powder with one club on MoD ranges and shoot sighted rifle with another club on the same or different MoD range you (or the club(s) at least) will have to pay a per capitation fee each to be covered by the NRA's insurance and this fee covers the SCC as I am lead to believe. here shouldn't be an extra cost over and above that which is already charged.

Re: NRA re-issue of SCC cards
So I have an NRA individual member SSC card, I do not shoot at Bisley and I do not shoot with the NRA club so does that mean that this card is worthless?

You'd need it if you shoot at an MoD range. Otherwise, yes, it's worthlessdromia wrote:So I have an NRA individual member SSC card, I do not shoot at Bisley and I do not shoot with the NRA club so does that mean that this card is worthless?

Re: NRA re-issue of SCC cards
I'm no expert but everything I've read suggests you need an NRA SCC to shoot on any MoD range.dromia wrote: I shoot on MoD ranges but with other clubs but the NRA card doesn't count for them?
(... and that this is at the MoD's insistence, not the NRA's.)
Hopefully someone with more knowledge than me will confirm or otherwise...
Re: NRA re-issue of SCC cards
I am 99% sure this is incorrect.Mattnall wrote:Also, they would like you to have one for every club you shoot with as a member on MoD ranges.

It has never been like this, and I see nothing in the information about the new process that suggests a change in this respect, nor have any of the clubs I'm involved with intimated that there is any change. The specific scenarios described in previous posts all relate to instances where one club is not able to certify all the classes of firearm required by an individual, hence the need for cards from more than one club.
You just need to be certified for the type of firearm you are using.
Issuing multiple, duplicate or overlapping cards would not reduce admin!
