It is a Bell Target
What is Bell Target? Bell Target, in its simplest form is shooting at a circular target 6 yards/18 feet away with a .177 Air rifle or pistol with open sights and without any form of mechanical support. The object of the sport is to shoot a .177 pellet through the 3/8 inch hole in the middle of the target and ring a bell. For our league this scores you 5.1 points. If you miss the hole and hit the plate you score 5, 4,3, 2 or zero, there is no 1 score.

You have 5 shots so a possible maximum score of 25.5

Can we have some better photos - be nice to see how it all fits together.

Some of these are fascinating:

This one is really nice inside, the plate appears to be quite hard and the cabinet is well made. For the price it is going to be difficult to build one to this standard unless you discard the cabinet and can source a lump of hardened steel at a sensible price.

I am so far resisting the temptation to run an Arduino and hang an accelerometer on the bell to play the national anthem and flash lights if 5 successive bells are hit, mostly because it needs a reset circuit which I would probably forget to hit. :)

Ahh! much more complicated than I imagined - looks very well made. So you pull a string to re-cock the mechanism? I was thinking something like a cast bell (or small circular saw blade) behind the hole that gets directly wacked by a pellet.

There is a length of black chain you pull to reset the bell and yes, it is reasonably complicated. You could certainly make one, however it would be quite time consuming and given that these are made in the UK, I do wonder how they manage it at this cost and quality.
