Re: melting into ingots

The trick with getting ingots to melt at the start is to never leave your casting pot empty. I always leave mine at least a 1/4 full. That means that when you fire it up there is alloy in contact with the surface of the pot all round and on the base so in contact with the heat. When that has melted then just add your ingots. As has been said getting going with ingots in an empty pot takes longer as the air spaces 'tween the ingots dissipates the heat.
