If I was shooting animals I might cosider a moderater.
What amuses me is watching all these young guys trying to convince each other how there super expensive .22 moderaters will eventually actually help them to be able to shoot a small group at
25 yards.
Yet my 100 year old rifle does it consistenty with iron sights. So how does that work.
What is super expensive about a 40 quid moderator? Also what's wrong with wanting to reduce unwanted sound at the source? You work in an engineering environment and no doubt understand that reduction of a hazard at source comes before PPE in the list of things to do.

I'm not saying to not use PPE either. Just any further reduction achievable is better.

That get-up tight when I blow them away with my Steyr SSG 69.
I'd say it says more about the people you shoot with. Imagine getting angry that someone else is shooting better? Bizarre.

One other consideration is that you don't need a slot on your FAC for a muzzle brake, whereas you do need a separate slot if you wish to acquire a moderator. Therefore, for all rifles owned, this could require a number of slots.

If someone is using a muzzle brake at the side of me, that is fine, I use them too. I will just wait and time the shots.
