Re: Paint them pink
We all should do it... without exception.
The reason is simple - this all came about because of a political desire to be seen to do something in respect of gun (gang) crime mainly but not restricted to London. The need to be seen to do something was intense... and that is evident by the amount of care taken over the impact assessment. Ten minutes by a four year old on the back of a fag packet that grew into a gun grab over and above just MARS.
But when you cannot impose any more laws on the illegal, the only thing that you can do is to sell the public a line... and be seen to do something against the only group that you can - that of legal firearms owners (because there is no out for us owing to registration).
The reason that the 50 went on hold was because a. There was a group that stood up and was counted (and take note - wouldn't be told that it was a done deal by the HO) and b. It pushed the Committee for evidence of the problem (which of course it could not provide). The same would have been true of LR, but the facade of representation by our dysfunctional organizations meant that that did not happen.
If you want to achieve an outcome that is not there for you, you sow the seed, let others such as NABIS and the GCN (even though they are grossly over represented in terms of their numbers) of course start to raise concerns... and then you have the problem that needs addressing.
The reason to paint them pink - because that will diminish both local police hierarchy intent on the next promotion and reps from the HO / Govt from presenting pictures of piles of evil guns taken "off of the streets" when in reality not one would have come from the streets (just out of lawful ownership already under strict control).
What this has done is to trample on individual rights and set a dangerous precedent - that something can be banned just because it may be "taken and used in crime".
The very best that any certificate holder can do to save shooting is for us all to stick £20 in a pot - straight away you have 15 million able to be used for legal challenge / judicial review etc.
Right now, air gunners are starting to feel the heat (as every gun owner will in good time). But how many of them fought to save LR / 50 etc.?

That date when that precedent actually occurred is the 6th of May 1953.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Re: Paint them pink
Simply because the lever release/Mars was tagged on to the back of the legislation intended for “gang related/corrosive substance”

As a member of the FCSA, I fought for both camps... Although I let Chris know how disappointed I was when he dropped the LR to concentrate on the 50's. Don't get me wrong as I fully appreciated his stance.
The FCSA take was that the NRA would pick up on LR... and I have heard a number of versions over the endeavors of the latter (or not), missed opportunities and so forth.
The fact remains that there were often more LR and MARS on the 50 cal line out than there were 50 cals...
Someone needs to prod the likes of AirgunBBS - perhaps by stirring up a hornets nest we can all be persuaded to fight together with one common purpose.

I'd love to do that to mine, but just watch your lengths.Blackstuff wrote:I'll likely be waiting until the new year to do mine as I want to shoot it for as long as possible. I also want to comically bend the barrel up which will probably require a blow torch to do so don't want to have to paint it twice!
When guns are outlawed, only Outlaws will have guns
Re: Paint them pink
You don't need a blow torch you just need a set of pipe benders. If you have any mates who are pipefitters they can do it for you in ten minutes you don't even have to heat them up.bradaz11 wrote:I'd love to do that to mine, but just watch your lengths.Blackstuff wrote:I'll likely be waiting until the new year to do mine as I want to shoot it for as long as possible. Re: Paint them pink
If you bend it to the left or right instead of up............ can you say its a special edition 'house clearance' version modelled on the Sturmgewehr 44 Krummlauf? assault rifle so much more valuable?Alpha1 wrote:You don't need a blow torch you just need a set of pipe benders.
