Some people have scoffed at this because GSG made the "jump" from manufacturing airsoft to firearms. They are wrong. I have a GSG5 and really like it. Well made and reliable. GSG have been on a very steep learning curve and they are doing well.
Google the GSG 1911-22 and you will see that the "base" pistol is getting an excellent reputation, particularly in the US, where it's being bought not only as a plinker, but as a training aid for those that carry Govt model .45s. Just don't get hung up on the US price!!!
what the prices of $300 ish dollars

Vince has one and is hoping to review it for next months Target Shooter I believe, they are a lot of fun and handle pretty well. As Dellboy says ignore the US retail of $300 you will only give yourself angst!!!

Yes, Chris & I have one each. His is boring black, mine is pretty metallic purple/pink.
Chris, naturally, gets quite good groups from his (and mine!!), I'm still learning :)
They like the faster ammo and get good groups from CCI Magtech.
Only problem with Cyprus? No gun clubs - only shotguns

theres a few people who have had their barrell shroud anodised woderful colours,i like them personally,i like very much the 1911 pistol .22,and am in the process of seeking one for humane dispatch on deer and fox.
i agree that gsg have had a steep learning curve, especially with the lawsuit by hk.
what i cannot agree with is the quality of the gsg5 or the kalasnikov copies, i and a number of others have found the quality and finish of said models to be of very poor quality, with parts that border on having to have a phd to assemble after cleaning
i understand and respect others like them, but they have a bad and well deserved reputation and this is reflected by the fact that they cant be given away i kbow 4 deallers who cant knock them out at cost.....

I've had mine for a few year now. Got one of the very first into the UK. Now, it's probably had somewhere in the region of 5000 rounds through it. There is no apreciable wear either internally or on the finish. One of the problems seems to be that people were wanting it to be what it is not. Some got hacked off that it wouldn't cycle subs or standard ammo, but then it wouldn't as it's designed for HV ammo. Likewise, people have put real moderators on them and this has just added to the reliability issues.
People wanted it to shoot like a target rifle, but it won't. The barrel is just a stainless steel tube no thicker than a barrel liner. It will still tear the 9 ring out of a 25 yard small bore target, but you'd really struggle with a rabbit head shot at 50 yards.
Tear down can be a bitch, especially if you want to strip it down to every single nut and bolt component. It can be done, I did it to mine out of curiosity, but you have to remember it's a simple blow back mech with a fantasy body clamped around it. Keep the strip down as per manual and there's no issues.
Yes GSG got shafted by H&K. Ironic when you consider that H&K called foul when Colt sued them over the M4/416 platform. H&K won that one also.
Why can't you give away a GSG these days? A couple of reasons I reckon. Firstly, it's a "fun gun" designed for plinking. 600 quid plus is not a plinking price bracket, especially when you consider like lots of things, the cost of the gun say in the US!! Secondly, it the current trend of "Tactical Twenty Twos" there are guns out there that will do what people want! They will run on all ammo types, give good accuracy, (The S&W M&P15-22 has a target barrel made by Thompson Centre and is uber accurate) and actually "feel" like a proper gun, where as the GSG5 out of the box, does feel like a toy.
Truth be known, I spent far too much money on mine...... added loads of "Call of Duty" bits on it and it now tops the scales at a solid eight and a half pounds!! A pound an a half more than my full up Steyr Scout Rifle! I keep it clean and lubed, nly run Remington Viper through it and don't expect it to do any more than it does!
30 quid for 500 rounds, five magazines and two hours on the range is a wagon load of smiles!

There's two LBP 1911's on the market at the minute, I believe.
The one from Valmont, made by GSG for around £600 and one made by Low Mill Ranges for £1200!!!
And if anyone thinks that "GSG" on the slide is not good news, the one I saw from Low Mill Ranges had Ivor Johnson on the slide!!!

Am I not right in thinking that these are imported Tunnel Shooting Centre in Devon, hence the "TSC" bit in the name. I think Valmont are just a reseller. I have heard that the Low Mill guns have frames but are not twice as good.

Looks like I did confuse things, anyway!!!!
