Medcert take about three weeks - if you do your bit to help.
Get your own medical records from your surgery (they are obliged to supply in 30 days) and send then to Medcert with your application.
The £50 fee is I think reasonable.

I think shotgun medical cost me £60 but from emailing my records to receiving the letter in the post was 2 days.

I got the renewal paper work at the start of March. they want all paper work with them with in 10 days. I think somehow you just got lucky.
