Noo... just a short term thing so people know they are on the old forum as the change takes place. Everything will look exactly the same as now, the only difference is the forum will be hosted in Gateshead instead of the USofA

Yup. We are also upgrading the phpBB3 from 3.07 to 3.09 so a small security change and some bug fixes.

Oh dear ... at least you had a chance of understanding the Chicago English, but Gateshead - best of luck with translations!

Just before changeover will you be running an incremental back-up for te additional posts? and add those to the new database?

Gateshead is fine, we can just send the Northern crew down to translate :)

Yes I will run an incremental around midnight when we are quiet and then change the DNS

Not yet, we are still moving things and setting up. I would hope the DNS change will be tonight once we are sure the new place is as it should be and testing has been completed.

Ovenpaa,

So, how many person hours have been used so far for our benefit?

More importantly, although it is evident that you don't want to tell us, how much is all this costing in actual shekels?

Even if you are a squillionare, you guys deserve to get a least a pint out of it.

John, Hours invested in the forum by the Admin and Mods probably run into the thousands :D

Cost wise not a huge lot for the new host however it does remain to be seen if Christel can get a refund from the old hosting company when we have eventually moved over. Hosting companies always say you can get a refund at any time however we have never tested this.

Christel tells me the total breakdown so far:

5 year shared hosting plan with Justhost cost £85. Justhost is US based.
£7 for registering the site, that runs for 2 years, so one year to go before renewal.
£10 a year for backups.
£27 for the upgrade last week, this was to a faster server and made no real difference
£85 for the new hosting plan in Gateshead

Total is GBP214 to date.

OK, test time............... :?

This is a temporary link for the new host http://213.229.125.78/~fullbor2/ At the top it says www.full-bore.co.uk (NEW PLACE) so nobody gets confused (HA!)

Can people test the link and report back here confirming it is OK/broken, you can post at the new location however any posts made at the new place will be lost when we do the incremental which will probably be tonight.

So to recap, look at the new place, login but remember any new posts to it over the next few hours will be lost.
