I used to have a BSA CF2 (the sporting version), and used to dread the RO saying: "Bolts Out!'

It was a right carry-on; pulling the trigger back while simultaneously pushing the safety forward and while drawing the bolt with much jiggling to and fro' ....you really needed the help of a trained octopus.

Ah, the charming idiosyncracies of the BSA CFs....wonder whatever happened to BSA?

Aye there is a "knack" to it.

Another challenge, another skill to learn, what value from a rifle.

BTW I'm south paw when shooting rifles so think of the fun I have with them.

Push the trigger forward with the bolt in the normal position. Keep the trigger pushed forward hard and then retract the bolt, you don't really feel the trigger move forward which is why it's a bit confusing. A clothes peg is quite handy as you can get some leverage on the trigger. Once you get the knack you can do it all day long. I had a CFT, #175 IIRC. Nice gun.
