Later this year I'll be converting my butchered Ishapore 2A1 to 45 ACP (I plan to have it proofed to at least 45 ACP +P, but hopefully 45 Super levels)

Give http://greenrifle.com/ a call or e-mail he has one of his early conversions for sale. If you're in a hurry, call, as he can take a little while to reply to due to other work and family commitments.

I'm pretty sure I still have a photo of that particular rifle he has for sale - I could PM it to you if you're interested.

Hi Sandgroper,
Have you seen any of the 'Delisle Carbines' that Gordon has done? Or the .357 conversion he did for Chris? I still think he's willing to do some more conversions as time permits but their main business keeps them very busy.

I'm also hoping to do a silenced Mauser .45 build in the next year or so, time permitting; I'm part way there, got the doner rifle/action in bits.
Andy,
Seen them, held one and wanted to run out the door with it!

I haven't seen Chris' 357, but heard about it, when I was talking to Gordon about one in 44 Magnum.
Yes, he's very busy as it's taken him a while to do the 22lr for me, but I'm not in a rush, so no problems. All I should need for my conversion is a 45 barrel (and the associated work) as everything else should be sorted.

How are you planning to sort the magazine on a mauser action?

How are you planning to sort the magazine on a mauser action? err, trial & error!??????? Fill in the floorplate area with a big alloy block holding a 1911 mag.
I've also got an old sporterised SMLE I could play with.
Unfortunately what with work, trying to have a home life, visits to the Western Isles to see her mother, Holidays, some shooting, etc. I never seem to get enough time to myself to play with my tools & machines in the garage.

So I've just had a chat with a gunsmith about building me a custom .45 based on a Rem 700 (I'm a lefty, so thought I might as well go full hog), am I mad or has anyone else tried this?

Andy,
If you were going to keep the blind box magazine of the Mauser and have an alternate follower etc, you could go for something a bit punchier like 45 Win Magnum or 450 Bushmaster. :-P

Rhineland Arms also do 45ACP conversion kits for Mausers http://www.troupsystems.com/MAUSER/maus ... rsions.htm

I haven't heard of it being done, but anything is possible. I've heard of Rem 700's (and other bolts actions) being converted to 450 Bushmaster and 458 SOCOM, the magazint would be the tricky part.

Some might regard it as a pointless rifle project :cool2: , but I say if that's what you want, then why the hell not! :good:

AFAIK he doesn't produce de Lisles as such but Enfields converted to 45 ACP, something like this,

This is a close up of the type of magazine adapter that I got from greenrifles and is now fitted to my Ishapore

Image see attached pdf

The adapter is from http://www.specialinterestarms.com/index.php?page=home

The de Lisles Andy and I were talking about are from a local RFD who is a member of Strathpeffer RPC.

That's a nice looking .45 Enfield, I'd love to know more about it ! Perhaps you could start a new thread so as I don't hijack this one ?

What was the original rifle?

What did the conversion entail?

How accurate is it ?

What range do you shoot it at ?

What sighting system do you use?
