No need to apologise John, Ican't remember what type of powder *was in my 1000 rounds each of .38' .38sp, 7.62, .308, 9mm, .38super, that was 6,000 rounds in all. Plus the four sacks of 9mm cases. I also, having slots for two .22 pistols, bought from a local shop, two Drulovs, for ten quid each, before the ban was announced, which I sold to the Government as specialist target pistols.

Finacially, I probably did better than if I had sold my guns and equipment but I wasn't then, and I am not now shooting for the money.

I also, signed up with that firm of shysters who offered to 'help'. The constabulary never did get my paperwork from them, and they never got their money from me after I took them to court.

Traded my SMLE for a Model 27 and a Webley Mk VI there.

Mine got handed in on the 27th of September, three days before the ban came into place.....

I got several thousand pounds more than mine were actually worth, monitarily. But, my IPSC tricked 1911 was my wedding present from my wife....

I spent every single penny of their "30 pieces of silver" and a little bit more, on other guns. On one particular day, I actually bought seven! Ended up at one stage with some thirty odd on ticket, three times what I'd previously held before the ban. But, I'd give you them all for that 1911 back....

When they banned Self Contained Air Cartridge pistols - they were not cheap, there was absolutely no compensation offered.

Don't egt me started on that one!! Or the shafting from the 1988 Semi Full Bore ban........!!

I remember the powder well. Burn rate between Bullseye and 2400 ;-) I loaded all my 9mm 38 357 & 45 with that load - just the once!

I handed in a blued six inch Python that I'd saved for maybe 18 months to buy (I had a young family to keep). It had only had about 500 rounds through it.

Ah, I have just remembered the special czech primers I started to use, those with the small dip in the middle to identify the manufacturer!

I'm a bit too young to have had any benefit out of pistols in the UK, but I can remember loading with my dad when I was young 38spl loads for his 357 magnum.

He'd had it for his 40th birthday off my mom, a gun he always wanted, and not 5 years later they took it off him :( He was gutted, and so am I... I'll never know what its like to shoot pistols on home soil :(

A few things I did learn, you can play football with a sig pistol! You can get salt into all kinds of nooks and crannies! And ww2 german sub machine-gun ammo he's better with age!
