My Remington 700 journey took many steps, the link is to a thread a while back where someone was considering like you.

If I was just wanting to buy a rifle that'll tick all the boxes staight off I think I'd buy either a Savage or Tikka

Love my Tikka T3 Super V!

I dropped three points a few months ago shooting 900yards! That was with 155Hps.
It was V after V! Couldn't do it again though!!

It's my first rifle in .308 and I love it!

Cheers, guys.

Many options there. Tbh, I'd just want something generic that'll tick all the boxes and something that'll do me proud at 600 yards. No idea what my budget will be, though. I feel I may be put off by the price of the damn scopes more then anything.

Savage makes a nice rifle. Good and also afordable. Well atleast over here.

.300 savage?
I think I have some brass somplace here in one of the piles.

A Savage 110 in .270 is like shooting a laser, fast, straight, and flat.
If you come over again next spring I can put one of those in your hands.

Figure out, and make a list of what you want to try, and chances are one of us in my family have.
from .22 to .50bmg

Cheers :good:

Would .270 be any good past 300 yards? It's a cartridge I have no experience with, so I haven't a clue.

I'm trying to make it back for May so here's hoping fingerscrossed

270 is good to anything the 30-06 can do. Perhaps a bit better.
But then perhaps you should stick to things you can easily obtain over there.
I dont know how popular that round is on your side of the pond.

Plenty of .270 kit over here, popular stalking round. However quiet a few people complain about its recoil, never seemed much to me, I really like the .270 and have dropped many a red with it, I just stick to the 303 for the beasts now though. Never take long shots, getting in close is the fun of it, so the flat shooting benefits of the .270 are wasted on me.

I want one of them. A bull-pup bolt-action? Yes please.

Hi all,

I know they are very expensive, but I had a very pleasant day turning live into empty using a Blazer R93 the other week, very nice straight pull action.

One for the bank manager to approve I'm afraid!

Cheers, John.
