I couldn't find any for sale in my search!
I'll have a rethink!

Martin,
The IOR is a good scope with good glass however, don't beat yourself up - it's no better (or cheaper) for the target shooter than half a dozen other 'easy to obtain' scopes.
Walk along a line of F Class shooters at a League comp. and you'll soon get an idea of what does the job. About two-thirds will use Nightforce (8-32 or 12-42), the rest will use 8-32 Sightron, with the odd S&B and March.
Buy an 8-32 Sightron for about £850 and be happy!
Cheers
Vince

Or find someone who's going to the US and pick one up for about £530 :shakeshout:Gun Pimp wrote:Buy an 8-32 Sightron for about £850 and be happy!
There's room for all Gods creatures, next to the mash and gravy :)
Re: Looking for a F-Class rifle
Cheers fellas for the info! Still to much for me though at £800 odd. One thing, I now now what sort of mag scope I should be looking at!!
Need to get a nice rifle sorted first me thinks! 90% sure it's going to be the Remington but I must admit if I had the extra money I liked the look of the RPA interceptor .308 on Guntrader!!

Re: Looking for a F-Class rifle
I am still considering what disciplines I ant to shoot, so have grabbed an SSG-04 to get me going. If you are seriously looking at F-Class or any dedicated long range shooting, the Savage FT-R might be worth a look. Depending on what I want to do long term, I might swap the SSG out for one next year.
Re: Looking for a F-Class rifle
They are very nice but new, a little out of our price range and don't seem to see many used ones come up which is shame! Still mate you've got a cracking Steyr there which will keep you happy! They don't come up very often either..JonC wrote:I am still considering what disciplines I ant to shoot, so have grabbed an SSG-04 to get me going. The RPA I saw was £1650 which I thought for a .308 was a good price but still out of reach for me..Nevermind!
Re: Looking for a F-Class rifle
I think you could put together a reasonable starter F/TR rifle, scoped with a bipod and rear bag for a good bit under GBP750 if you put your mind to it. Base it on an oldish target rifle, fit a 'scope rail and Fox 'scope and do your own pillar and glass bedding job. The Diggle guys have built some very good F/TR bipods in the past and Saturday I was talking to an ex Diggle shooter who has just joined our club that had built a cracking front bipod based on a lump of aluminium channel from eBlag and using a jigsaw and electric drill, it looked good for it as well.
Re: Looking for a F-Class rifle
Well said Dave - one or two good GBFCA League shooters have done exactly that. Ticks all the boxes - 30 inch long barrel, decent single-shot action and usually an adaptable stock. There are stacks of 'obsolete' TR rifles on gunshop shelves.ovenpaa wrote:I think you could put together a reasonable starter F/TR rifle, scoped with a bipod and rear bag for a good bit under GBP750 if you put your mind to it. I do like the sound of it Dave and Vince!
If I can get something that isn't to old and parts are available I can't see why not. I mean the TR Musgrave shoots very well for me and I'm up for making my own bipod as well!
Can you recommend me any which have the above and have a good solid action?
Have you any pics of that bipod or send me in the direction?
Thanks again

Re: Looking for a F-Class rifle
Thanks Ovenpaa for link.
Going to look at a couple of rifles tomorrow. I've had a good look around for a cheapish T/R but couldn't find much different to what I already own. My dad doesn't fancy another Musgrave or Swing.
So I'm going to just get something which isn't old and I can hit the target and so can the old man! I'm going to see how we get on and if I do good I will save some cash and have a custom F class built for myself which will be just mine.
I'm looking at a used Tikka T3 super varmint .308 and also the Remy 700 Police! We will see how they compare to each other. Oh and the Tikka is couple of hundred cheaper over the Remy!
