Where does it stop, looking into the fidelity of spouses?, did the applicant get bullied at school, is he under pressure at work, has he just found/lost god?????????
Christ on a bike , this country sucks , what w#nky little people we have become, there is no magnificence left in this country any more. It's just a hobby, oh and what about truck drivers?? as we have seen recently , you can do more damage with one of them than a gun!
Truth is that we are doomed as a sport/hobby cos half of us are enablers for the man.
I am sure the NRA have a rule for CCJs stc

Well said ! We prob go through more background checks then prob citzens from other countries that have ccw's ! Enough is enough ! You cannot trust the government When it comes to gun rights ! They don't care about public safety! They don't want anyone armed except for themselves! They sooner people realise this the better !

Mental health tests already exist for HGV drivers (in this country anyway)! Whether it goes into the full 'private life' of them I'm not sure but it certainly addresses depression, psychiatric issues etc.

If you think these sorts of questions are harsh its a good job you're not in the merchant navy, some of the questions my brother-in-law is asked yearly are crazy, there's literally no part of his life he doesn't have to disclose, what his financial situation is, how much he drinks, what his relationships are like, has he made any new friends recently, the works!

breacher:
CCJ is refusing to repay that debt. Ie - not playing by the rules.

Police see ANY rule breaking or contempt for rules as an indication the individual will break the rules imposed re FAC.

Not enough on its own but can be viewed as part of a bigger picture.

Also - what are the ccjs for ? I believe that unpaid parking fines and unpaid court fines can end up as ccjs ?
NO NO NO a CCJ is NOT refusing to pay a debt, where did you get that idea? People are sometimes UNABLE to pay, and unlike banks they do NOT get bailed out by the government! Oh and some CCJ's ARE the result of legal wizerdly AFTER a debt has been paid! So for the police to equate that with rule bending is just nonsensical (no offence breacher) - just ask the next copper who whizzes past you at 80+ MPH in a 60 zone about "rule bending"!! And that's when they're NOT on a shout.

Parking fines - is that Local Authority or those money grabbing "private car park" thieves. |Either eay they are Irrelevant. Unless somehow overstaying your time in Asda or a mter makes you unfit to hold a FAC, which again is just nonsensical to say the least.

It doesn't matter a jot what the CCJ's are for, it is circumstances. To say they are for willful NON payment is wrong, very wrong!

As for those in certain sensitive positions in the military etc etc - it's amazing what a professional explanation of the circumstances and action taken to remedy the matter can have.

BTW: Not sure about England but in Scotland a police offcier can have a Trust Deed (like an IVA) but they can NOT allow themselves to be declared bankrupt. For the polcie to then say a CCJ would make someone unfit to have an FAC would mean any officer with a CCJ /Court decree / Trust Deed is equally unfit to be an officer would it not?

Perhaps they should concern themselves more with this caper;

http://news.sky.com/story/gang-selling- ... e-10526393
As Britain's security services warn of potential Paris-style terror attacks in the UK, Sky News has been told by eastern European mafia gangs that demand for their military grade weapons across Europe has rocketed in two years - and they will supply to anyone.
Or would that be too much work  .
