Didn't the law follow the general rule of it being better to allow ten guilty men to walk free than one innocent man be wrongly imprisoned? It must be frustrating for police when they raid a known criminals house, find nothing incriminating and see knives, knuckle dusters and batons legally laying around it and they are unable to do anything. But this law seems to assume intent to do harm by mere possession in ones own home
in otherw rods you are guilty of something you MIGHT do, even if you have no intention of doing it.

It's the same with the standard police carp - "if you carry a knife you intend to use it." Utter carp and them some!.#

The police carry CS sprays, batons etc so by definition they INTEND to use them too - what's the difference?

Oh yes, all cutty / choppy / hacky things and self defense tools are ILLEGAL under S5 for ordinary law abiding people! **** **** ****

Just got this reply from the Home Office regarding a query I made about a Hinderer XM-18 flipper.

'My colleagues have reviewed the picture and also looked at a few videos of flipper knives and their view is that these types of knives are not captured by the revisions to the definition of a flick knife under the Offensive Weapons Act 2019. They do not view the flipper as a mechanism as defined in the legislation to help open the blade.

In their view the flipper or knob allows you to open the blade with your thumb and if you apply enough force you can open the blade in one movement or you can help with a movement of your wrist but this is acceptable.

I hope this is welcome news that the knife is not subject to the prohibitions within the Offensive Weapons Act 2019 and does not need to be surrendered and a compensation claim submitted.'

So I won't be handing mine in.

yeah, basically it needs an additional part to hit to help it open, that isn't covered by flippers. I asked something similar. flippers are not gravity knives either.
