It's a small range on the US 19 near Port Richey, http://www.firinglinerange.com/index.html

Been there a few times, very friendly and always ask about UK shooting and pricing etc., I think they only do it for a good laugh

If I was to be really cruel I'd mention 2010's outing with our friends Steyr .50 at 1000yds, we were hoping to "borrow" it again this year but with a new baby arriving he's sold it

phaedra,

Not having had to considered twist rate and barrel length before, as when I bought my gun it only had one option, I had to look at the US forums last night.
They have several articles referring to 1:16 and make comment to 1:10 being too fast for most uses. However they are also using longer barrels than us.
So not very productive from my point of view but I would suggest that you do the same before making a decision.
Re barrel length, personally I will only ever shoot my rifle out to 100 yards or further for a bit of fun, mostly it will be doing Gallery rifle comps where 50 yards is the furthest target. So personally I do not feel the need for a longer barrel and I am quite happy to sacrifice a few fps to keep the rifle slightly lighter. I have to say that the rifle is not as light as it looks and preventing muscle fatigue would would be a factor for me,

I meant for the LRA9, I have some Berry's Plated round nose 115gr bullets over 4.5gr of TiteGroup I was going to use and wondered what the best option was.
Hello big man and welcome aboard the best shooting forum in the UK! I'm Breastman from PW ( This name was a reference to pigeon breasts and i genuinely didn't even think about the other meaning   ).

As i bought one of the original LRA9's there was no choice of barrel twist but i think that's all changed now. I'm not sure what my twist rate is off the top of my head, i'll have a look in my manual to see if its in there, but anyway it's most accurate with 115gr rounds. With a scope it clovers at 20m and about 1-1.5" at 100m :good:

I'm with DM on the Glock mags, i'm pretty sure the new ones take mod. 17 mags too. Have you looked at the new design of the gun on the SGC website? I'm not a fan myself and if i was buying one i'd be asking for the original lower that takes AR 9mm/Uzi mags, but thats just my taste

Hi :)

I agree about the lower but I doubt he'll change it. I managed to pick up a new original Glock 17rnd mag at the range this morning, $38 so not as cheap as Midway/Sinclairs etc. but it was just sitting there asking me to buy it :) They also had some 33rnd at $50.

Can you choose which lower SGC supply?

Back again,

As mentioned on another thread I have found the thread protector is possibly not doing the accuracy any favours - still to be range tested with and without.

I would like to tart up the gun a bit and fancy a Fake over barrel moderator or flash suppressor. Not a muzzle break as I have an idea that they would be banned in competition.

SGC inform me that my thread is 3/4" x 16 tpi, (Yours may not be), does anyone have any idea where in the UK to get such items?

I don't really want a real suppressor, but finding a UK one in 9mm also appears to be difficult,

DM

Edit, have spoken with Wayne at NW Custom and he does not have any.

My barrel is the same size/thread and it's a pain :bad:

I'm still deciding if I want to risk taking it off after what you posted about SGC saying it affected your accuracy. Ideally I'd like it re-threaded to say 15x1 metric or 1/2x16 unef but my rfd won't attempt to take the barrel off with the non-standard nut.

I have a Wildcat predator 8 for my .308 and with the +1 option extra tube length it would come pretty close to the barrel nut and look rather nice smile2

3/4 x 16tpi is UNF, not that unusual.

I've looked at a few moderators and none list that size, I emailed Wildcat twice and got no reply, emailed Dave Mercer but he only does one size length which is 160mm over the barrel so well short of the Predator and would leave about 90mm of barrel showing

Alternative I suppose is to get the DM80 mod and have the barrel shround shortened so it only covers the barrel from the fixing nut up to the back of the mod.
