Re: Looking for a F-Class rifle
Just a quick one!
We bought a Tikka today! My dad liked the Tikka a lot and to be honest I did to! It was used but it couldn't of had many through it, it's in mint condition.
Also got a used but mint Bushnell Elite scope which will do the business. Just to say what a cracking lot they are at Shooting Supplies! Really pleased with it we are so when I get a moment I'll post some pics up!

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools!!

Re: Looking for a F-Class rifle
Thanks Alan n David!
I'm really happy with both items. They're really nice quality and the scope is just so clear to my eye's.
All I have to get is a bipod at some point. I was up for making one out of alloy but might just buy one as the shoot season is just around the corner! The old man did like the Trakker bipod from Dolphin but at £165 I think it will be a Harris 6-9"
The first thing I've got to do is zero the scope in! If we're shooting from 300 to 1000yds I was thinking of zeroing it in at 500 does that sound right. Or how would do it?
I will for sure get some photos up!!

Re: Looking for a F-Class rifle
Scope zero depends on how many minutes of elevation you have got and the rail angle. My AI is zeroed at 100m uses a 28 minute rail and has 13.1 Mrad of elevation which is..... (Calc time) 45MOA. That gets me to 1100m/1210y on a warm day with 155 Scenar's.
So depending on the rail angle and MOA elevation range you could start at 100 yards. I have my Barnard set to a 200m zero which covers comps from 400 upwards.
Bipod. You may well struggle with the Harris as it is not the most stable of things. I am about to build some more F/TR bipods would you like me to add one for you to the list? They are built for T rails and I have a spare section of T rail if you need some.

And I found myself drooling over a re-stocked M690 in a laminate stock with a monster 6.5 x 55 barrel which didn't have a lot of life left according to the vendor, but by golly it looked nice!!MartinS wrote:Just a quick one!

Ok David I'll find out a bit more about the factory rail on it. It's going to be trail and error me things!
That's a kind offer to make me a pod! I think you mean T rail on the bottom of the stock but there isn't one the Tikka just a sling screw! If I've got in the wrong end of the stick could you post a pic of yer handy work up! How much you selling them at?
If its not going to work it might well have to be the Dolphin bipod..

Sounds a cracker!! The build on the Tikka really surprised me.!!tikkathreebarrels wrote:And I found myself drooling over a re-stocked M690 in a laminate stock with a monster 6.5 x 55 barrel which didn't have a lot of life left according to the vendor, but by golly it looked nice!!MartinS wrote:Just a quick one!

This is an all new design, I will transfer it from paper to computer over the next few days. The Anschutz rail looks like this however I can pick up a sling screw/harris pin instead if needed.MartinS wrote:Ok David I'll find out a bit more about the factory rail on it.
