Maybe you're partly right Blu, Soviet soldiers in the 1980s found that their AKM and AK-74 rifles could not match the range of the World War II-era bolt-action Lee-Enfield and Mauser rifles used by Mujahedeen rebels.One of the reasons the Russians liked the Dragunov, it could counter the longer ranges the Mujahedeen snipers favoured.Coalition forces would face the same problem decades later.

Its an ex-Indian Army Vickers Berthier. Looks very similar to a Bren.
