More recently than that the Bill of Rights was quoted during the Remainers' legal challenge seeking a judicial declaration that triggering the EU exit must first be authorised by an Act of Parliament.

I fear our main stumbling block is, ironically, that contrary to the popular belief of the tabloid-reading masses we are the most law-abiding, most trustworthy, most honest citizens in the UK. It's easier to get into the police than it is to hold firearms; a criminal record these days not necessarily barring an applicant from a career in law enforcement.

Most of us have impeccable backgrounds - otherwise we wouldn't be able to pursue our sport. By our very nature our inclination is to follow the law even though we know it to be wrong. Consequently the government is confident it has nothing to fear from us.
So when the government informs us that in order to briefly appease the tabloids they're going to take our legally owned property away from us they can be sure we will duly appear at the appointed time to politely hand the state our belongings with little fuss.

Contrast that to the usual suspects that riot in the street, are complicit in terrorist attacks, mass destruction of property, civil disruption, swamp the streets in less than peaceful demonstration, and the usual police time and resource draining masses. The squeaky wheel gets the grease in the UK.

Semi auto .22s are probably the most important right to defend as they will be how you get people back into shooting. Perhaps with something like the US's Project Appleseed. Letters to MPs are all well and good but until they think they might lose votes you'll be lucky to get more than sympathy. Wider participation is the key as I see it.

So we lost semi auto centre fire and multi shot shotguns ,then we lost pistols , then brockocks became sec 1 but cant be sold or bought , some airsoft guns and starter pistols became orange ,now possibly 50 cal and mars actions (rapid fire) so whats next enfields (the mad minute ) semi auto ? lever actions ?lbr ?
Defend peoples rights to shoot what they want or gradually we will lose it all .
