Hope it's not too much of a thread resurrection but currently my FAC is in for a 7.62x39 slot amongst other things and considering one of these. Is there a page anywhere that shows the three colours, the different barrel lengths and the stocks? Not spotted one on the CCA page, so might drop CCA an email.

Best I can see, I gather the final HO inspections are close for the trigger release, so you may want to hold off for a little while.

Yep, have seen the trigger release mentioned online and can't quite work out whether it's a good idea or not. In any case, I suspect the 7.62x39 version (and probably the other calibres?) will need a gas system to work- I suspect they'll be a LOT more expensive (ala LR9 prices).

Will drop CCA an email and ask for barrel length pictures, pictures of the colours and whether all furniture matches on the green/sand colours.

When I spoke to him at the shooting show I `believe` he said they should be around £1,800, but the price wasn't fixed at that point. He calls this system MARS, not trigger release. I think it stood for Manually Activated Release System.

If he gets home office approval and he was quietly confident that this was now just a formality, I'll buy one for certain. I can't wait to start pinging brass around the place! bangbang

Hells Teeth! that's just over £1,000 more than the standard version :o

Then don't quote me on that. I tried to find the shooting show thread on here, but couldn't see it for some reason. Whatever price I said in that thread is correct, although I thought it was around the price I've just quoted above.

About what I suspected/feared price wise then (assuming it's not gone up since).

What I've got to consider is that for that price I can have a (slightly "blinged") straight pull VZ.58, fill the .303 slot and get the FAC Shotgun, and probably have change left over.

TBH the idea of the trigger doing two different things (fire, release, fire, release....) doesn't particularly appeal. Neat idea though.

It appeals to me alright. I found the post and the price is likely to be closer to £2,000.
I spoke to him about the vz.58 MARS for ages, he's hoping to be somewhere with it in the next 2 months. He told me a couple of times that the tone of the conversation with the HO has changed and certainly for the better, almost as if certifying the firearm is now a formality. Got to say I was impressed with it as well and it may find it's way on to my free .223 slot when they're released. He's not sure how they'll categorise the rifle, albeit bolt action/straight pull or something else.

He said they were hoping to bring them in for £1,800, but it looks like they'll cost more than that but certainly under £2K.
