I have an LMT .308, I have tried the following ammo, DAG/MEN, RG L2A2, RG L42, GGG, and Raufoss 7.62mm (L17A1)
The only exctraction issues I have is with the DAG/MEN, though it shoots accurately, it does have the odd, hang up, or tight extraction, all the RG ammo, L2A2 and L42 is effortless (apart from thge pull of a heavy spring smile2)

3 shot group RG L42 100 mtrs
The FAL however, is a different animal, The only ammo it will shoot is PMC (no longer imported into the UK) and GGG. It will not extract any RG ammo, I have tried various L2A2 years of Manf, L42 and tracer with no joy
GGG is effortless, (apart from thge pull of a heavy spring smile2  ) and on irons, I can hold a 3 to 4 in group at 100, its only a 13 in BBL on the FAL, so it takes a bit of handling, it doesnt come out very often any more, and is retaired as a plinker nowadays. Pic below, you all know what a FAL looks like.
If you get an LMT I think they are good to shoot anything available GGG probably the most available at the moment, as for the FAL its only GGG.
Small base dies are the way forward for the FAL.

i have put an order down for the lmt 308, i going to have a side charger put on it through! have you tried commerical stuff as well ? there is no RG stuff around at the mo. so will have to use GGG,...which you said you dont have any extraction issues, what if i was to rapid fire 2 mags with GGG ammo, would it still be easy to extract?? (want to use for CSR comps as well)
nice collection esp the SLR

The new LMT bolt/BCG is now supposed to be optimised to work with a greater range of ammunition.

Not fancy putting a post in the new members area to introduce yourself?? Forum rules, etc.
Define
"rapid fire" with a manually operated 308 - that was DESIGNED to work as a full auto platform - you must have strong arms if you can get up to those sorts of cyclic rates doing manual extraction for each shot...
If you want some comm
erical ammo get some home load recipes from SimG - they'll make you laugh

Hello all - i posted in a different thread and now found you all here - my question is apart from the companies who supply these rifles ( well documented issues ) , if you had the choice of the SGC version or the LMT rifle which would you choose and why ?
I'm looking to add to my collection and have a vacant 7.62 slot just ready for something like this ..........

A straight pull SLR. Because they are tacticoolerer than the LMT. And they have a longer barrel.
