The daughter was doing an art project for school and used some spent 22 cases and a couple of old knackered 25-06 brass. The wife went mental when she realised but the teacher couldn't have been bothered - it got a gold star. Kids will bust a gut for a little gold sticky.

years ago coming back from a disco I got pulled by a bored plod at 2.30 in the morning. He stuck his head into the car and thought he could smell drugs being smoked, we were smoking Malboro and it was the 80's so aftershave smelt a bit sweet. He preceded to go through the car with a fine tooth comb. he managed to find a small digital clock I had mislaid and about 15 empty shotgun cases. He asked a few questions and that was that, he was more concerned about drugs, I was more concerned about getting home to bed as it was nearly 3 am :-). Luckily I never had any problems

Why would anyone be dumb enough to think handing the stuff in would be a good idea...at risk of sounding irresponsible better either take it HOME or find a deep drain or river - if you see it lying there make a call and move on.

Cops do do not appreciate responsible people being honest when it comes to weapons and ammo so best keep them out of the loop if possible- no offence to our own of course.

I'm paranoid about sanitising my range bag prior to flying from over the Pond, yet despite my best efforts a couple of items missed my notice (AND that of the TSA...).
Fortunately they only appeared at a time & place where disposal wasn't an issue.
I'm just glad they didn't surface whilst crossing into Mexico. :run:

I stay well away from guns and ammo for my last two days, everything is washed and checked...and checked again. Found an empty 9mm case trapped in the sole of my boots once...

I remember well going through departures when flying out to the gulf. Fully tooled up with rifles (my case pistol, rifle and knife x3) and a wee flustered doll from the flight company asking us individually if we'd packed our own baggage, etc. The comments and jokes she was a butt of! She wasn't to know we didn't have any ammo, but her face communicated how stupid she felt.

Got to hand it to them though. They did manage to stay professional an keep their knickers on, no matter what outrageous lengths the guys went, to get into the mile high club.

I took a friend shooting last weekend. Later that day as we were walking in town it was a bit windy so he put his hood up, and out fell a .38 case! Good thing I heard it drop!

A few weeks back we took a couple of friends to our range just so they could see what it was all about. Sounds daft but as we left the firing point I suggested they checked the soles of their shoes as I have sometimes found empty .22 cases stuck in the tread. Wouldn't look good if they walked in the pub and one landed on the floor :o

One of my daughters used to work in a dry cleaners, they used to find all sorts in jacket pockets. Brought me home a nice shiny and unfired .22-250 cartridge once... :o She was a gnat's jumpy when I told her the potential outcome if she'd been found with it.
