for the third / fourth time the cocking handle on my gsg-5 has broke! :( like the others i wasnt wacking it or anything i literally pulled it back and the peice of s*** broke ! also fed up with having to replace mags every year or so and having to replace the cocking handle ! so i thinking enough is enough and will prob sell it! (after i replaced the cocking handle) shame i really like the idea of an mp5 carbine in .22lr i anyone else have problems like these on their gsg-5's?
so i'm going for the sgc lever release, however their is a lever release pistol due out so i'm going to wait and see !

Don't hold your breath, i was told in
2006 by SGC about the lever-release rifle 'coming soon' and even went as far as to get a slot on my FAC  However as the LR pisto is already at prototype i'd hope it wouldn't be as long coming out (and i REALLY hope its not being done by SGC!!)
I've seen the lug which holds the cocking handle worn down by people doing the 'H&K slap' but never a broken handle on a GSG-5

the new ones that take the glock mags are already out you can see them on youtube the lever release pistol is imported by midway uk he wants £1600 per peice! looks good but the 9mm ar looks more appealing

I have to say chaps, the new .223 gas piston lever AR15 looks very promising indeed, the most exciting thing in UK black rifle "type" firearms in years....unless the powers that be decide its just much fun for the "little people" and ban them.
I do await their arrival on the Sec 1 scene with great anticipation....We have waited far too long for a rifle that is capable of effectively pelting our firing point neighbour in spent brass!
You could offer your GsG-5 to Bob in part ex......after he gets up off the floor from laughter, he might take its value into account and validate your parking with it!

Joe, the Glock mag type LRA9s have been out for about 2 years, they have had numerous users with reported feed problems, at least one which was returned as "unfit for purpose" and two that have literally blown apart (one of them being mine!), luckily (so far) nobody has been seriously injured.

As many have said, the comparison between the GSG-5 and the SGC LR9 is a bit of an unfair one, as each gun (naturally) differs greatly from the other in terms of calibre, cost and applicable disciplines. Mini-rifle is great fun with a .22 s/a, whilst the 9mm lever release is a great contender for other pistol calibre lever guns in gallery/police rifle comps.
I would heartily back the endorsement of the S&W 15-22 as an alternative to the GSG-5 (unless you have the budget for the likes of a CMMG or Lantac etc.), but in the interests of balance, I must say that my LRA9 is great fun! In my experience it has been a very reliable and accurate piece - mine is an Aug 2012 model with Glock mags and has had no problems at all with feeding (factory rounds only, mind!).
