I would actually wait until you have started shooting before considering active muffs that can cost anything up to £200.00. Some don’t sit well with certain combinations of head position and stock. You’ll be able to try different models from other shooters and see what suits you. Until then, either get a dumb pair for a tenner (which will always come in handy for friends, family at guest days etc) or wait until you start shooting - if you are watching an event you shouldn’t need them, since you shouldn’t actually be on the 'point when shooting is in progress.

Got a cracking pair of bins but it didn't even cross my mind to take them, nice one
Maggot thank you.
Rox will give your advice serious thought I've got time before the event to actually get some 'hands on', thanks for the heads up.
Bye for now.

Fair, although I don't think £25 is a killer, I can recommend them as I say, and they sit well with most.
To the OP, My apologies, I thought you were already doing some shooting. See you up there mate, come and say hello (Big ugly git with a green rifle...narrows it down then :55: )
Regarding not needing to be wearing them behind the point....you wont get away with that on many ranges, but it is of course your hearing.
An awful lot of hearing damage through shooting occurs in a "SAFE" area rather than actually shooting because folk assume they are not needed.
After a life time round helicopters, artillery, SAM missiles and small arms my hearing is suspect...mostly because I decided the advice I had been given was pants :cool2:
take it or leave it

Borrow a set perhaps B?
Fit wont matter if you aint shooting.
Hey, look, I am not after an online bickering session, but I have run enough shoots/handling teams etc in a noisy environment to say that had the kit been available then, I would have loved it.
My point is that it will enhance the experience something rotten. You wont be on the point granted, but you will still be able to hear what is going on and chat to other shooters and get what they are saying.

In the short time since my last post. I have been bombarded with a ton of info/advice (Many thanks all) and have melted and ordered myself a pair of Sordins.

Awwe cmon, as long as it does not involve opposable fingers and thumbs and any form of tool you are fine mate :55:
You know pretty well how to do it...what you don't know is just how slow I am to absorb info geez
Like I say, Tim = Digital Brain. Maggot = Analogue brain...it works but the valves take a while to warm up.

Barry, I was not bickering at you anyway, if you decide to bin it I will buy the bloody things off of you matey

.
Joking aside, you see a lot of Sordins and Peltors on the range...cant for the life of me understand why
I use sordins as do a lot of the guys in the club, very good muffs but the batteries are a bit of a pig to change.
Like I said, look for the gibbering wreck with a green Dolphin modular, I will probably be hiding in one of the drainage ditches, I don't like the loud bangs.
You will spot the F class lot. If it's a hot day and you go anywhere near the TR lot you will be overwhelmed by the smell of hot leather, sweat and searing flesh....we don't call em the bondage crew for nowt
Our lot tend to potter about in T shirts etc, far more civilised
