I'm using 7mm-08 Rem out to 1000. I don't shoot competitively as work excludes the opportunity..

I'm using 130gn SMK's with H4350 for just under 3000 fps out of an RPA with it's original barrel. Probably had close to 4000 rounds through it with no signs of accuracy dropping off, we'll for me as a moderately skilled club shooter.....

168's were great out to 600, but you just can't get the velocity to go further. 150's likewise would go to 1000 nicely, but the 130's just seemed more consistent.

All in all to my mind, 7-08 is a brilliant cartridge. Outstanding on the range and deer legal if you want it. And, non of that malarkey to take it on the Continent or some South American places because of "military calibre" restrictions. Again, not that this has concerned me, but was commented by a bloke in the club.

I had thought about changing cal once it needs a new barrel, perhaps to .260 Rem, but that would be more for change for changes sake and a new challenge, not a reflection on 7mm-08.
