Might I suggest you get a copy of Jeff Cooper's "The Art of the Rifle". An interesting perspective from a professional lifelong shooter.

Excellent book...only let down by lack of colour photos.

I think the book is a compilation of magazine articles which might explain the lack of good colour photos. I must admit I'm mpre inclined to buy books with pictures in for much the same reason I had flavoured glass installed on the side windows of my car.
mmmm strawberry.......

Nice to see a self confesses window licker on the site...I suspect that there are many more.
Do you own a copy of Art of the Rifle? Or have access to a copy?
SOME of the Jeff Cooper books ARE compilations of his shorter Guns & Ammo magazine articles...some are NOT. Art of the Rifle falls into the latter category.
The purpose of the photos is to illustrate
(for us non window lickers) the different sling positions.
Some of the B&W images in the book have a tendency to be on the dark side, so not too clear = not up to the task they were put in the book for.
Photos in books CAN serve a serious purpose; not sure the same could be said about flavoured car windows.

Art of the Rifle is a stand alone book.
