Very, very nice! Do you know the secret of using the M1 slings that are on your rifles other than as a hasty sling?
Thanks Rufrdr (Rough Rider?).

M1 Sling, Tourniquet perhaps? I have read about the sling in one of my many Books but can't remember what the secret use was. Go on, please save me the hassle of going and looking it up - especially as I getting ready for a trip to the US tomorrow. smile2 smile2

Yes indeed my moniker is 'rough rider' taken from my Jeep's license plate. It describes my approach to off-roading! So regarding the M1 sling: unclip the snap clip from the rear swivel; open the loop at the aft end of the sling by sliding the buckle and then slip the supporting arm through the loop to the bicep; tighten the loop snug on the bicep via the buckle to keep it in place; adjust the overall length of the sling with the compression lock to pull the rifle in tight until the rifle is stabilized with a three point support: shoulder, supporting hand, snug sling on bicep. The secret of the M1 sling! Most U.S. shooters have no clue how the sling is designed to be used to steady the rifle for deliberate shooting.

Thanks Rough Rider, I suspected it might be something like that but didn't have a clue as to how it was achieved. I will have to find the metal clip I took off that sling and reinstate it. I took it off because they can easily damage the stock around the sling swivel.

Regarding the Jeep, glad you use it as it was intended. I've got one but it's a bit too precious to risk off-roading with. It's got a fair bit of G Porn on it so not entirely unrelated.

Wouldn't a sawn-off make more sense for robbing a KFC?

That is very nicely done! My employer has a 1945 MB that was obtained war surplus and was used and abused for decades until it was retired for parade duty only. I took it out for a spin awhile ago and could barely get in and out of it! I'm not a really big guy ( 5'11" 175 lbs) but I wouldn't want to drive it every day as the pedals and steering wheel were really made for someone about 5'8" maybe. I'd hate to have to get out of it in a hurry like if someone was shooting at me.
