Well if the guidance since the anglo custom L1a1 is anything to go, break them up in kits, block up the gas system and full auto bits, new barrels and away. Problem then, we've now got something a straight pull AR does for more money and probably costs more than a VZ58 mars.

This is covered in the Sunday Times this morning, but with a rather alarming pictogram showing how the accuracy can be "as much as 6m off when the target is 500m away".

Now I may be wrong here, but are the police authorised to use assault rifles on targets at this distance? :o :o

No, the stupid press classify any black gun as an assult rifle ! Police use semi auto only

Cops won't be shooting at such long distances.

Beyond 200 yards/metres wouldn't the police use something long-barrelled, with a bolt action, bipod and in .308?

Pretty much I reckon. I still reckon they could have bought something that did the G36's job for cheaper and better.

That would depend on the situation if people were shooting at you from 300 meters. You are going to shoot back, you are not going to wait with the bullets whizzing round you for someone with a .308.

How likely are the police to engage at 300 yards (or even 200) in a built up area?
