One of my shooting buddies has 45/70 underlever (not sure of the make/model) for plinking/target shooting. Its fun to shoot (for a few magazines worth anyway troutslapping ) and the cases make the same 'clang' noise artillery shells do when they come out, rather than the usual 'tinkle' noise of pistol calibre stuff ;)

I have an original Springfield Trapdoor rifle in 45/70 (as well as one in 50/70) and it served me well in competitions when I used to attend the Trafalgar meeting. Both with grease groove bullets and paper patched, the paper patched ones had a slight edge.

I just got a new slot in .45 within the last month from Kent, not a problem at all.

My old man has a Browning made Model 1886 rifle in .45/70, it can be very.......kinetic with stout loads. That being said it's bloody good fun and always puts a smile on everyone's face.

There isn't any factory ammo 45/70 at all in the country ? As someone said its reload only ?

No idea. In 5 years have never bought ammunition other than 22lr. Reload everything else..
