I like AKs (I own one), but the point was the OP said they planned to shoot at a 6" target at up to 200 yds.

Hitting most of the time at 100 isn't a good start (in this case)...

It's all about the right tool for the job - expecting / needing more out of a rifle than it'll ever give won't make for a happy purchase.

Ok, lets try a different slant......a scoped (POSP 4x24 or 6x24 for example) 7.62 Saiga will do what the OP wants (6" target and plastic bottles at 200yrds) for a lot less money than an AR type.It was just a thought.

I shot a Saiga AK, unfortunately in .223" I am A big fan of the 7.62x39 as it is an excellent cast bullet case, with cheap Barnaul ammunition consistent sub 3" 100 yards 10 shot groups were easily shot.

Me, I just liked blasting down Fig 11s with it, shame it was black and plastic. Bakelite would have done although wood would have been better.

Fig11s at Sennybridge F and G ranges are pretty much what I use mine for.......and I agree on the wood, you can't beat a nice bit of Soviet laminate

Thanks for all the responses one of which seems to have led me to a decision that will leave me lighter in the wallet early next week.

I think that Leeeroy3071 had a Hera for sale on here a while back if that helps you at all.

Thanks Charlotte l had Leeroy's Dragunov off of him. Settled on a reasonable spec used BAR 15 unless someone sneaks in a SP AK-107, which is unlikely this side of 2025.

Mark makes a good rifle and I believe that his lowers are Schmeisser in origin...... you will not be disappointed. Mark also did the side conversion on my Hera which is now preforming well on the CSR circuit, just not in my hands anymore.

Will we be seeing you down at Bisley with yours ?
