Well, a large strange van pulled up outside the neighbours today sign written Ali babbas carpet shop, I though eh up, what all this so peered covertly through the blinds only to see two men of asian extraction pull out a roll of carpet which they then struggled with up the path to the neighbours door.
After reading the "report a suspicious person/van/car/etc" Government website my nerves were on edge as the afformentioned carpet could contain a bazooka, a fekkin huuuuggggeee pipe bomb or maybe even some AK47's so I was straight onto plod, bypassing the 0800 number as advised on the website and informed them of what I just saw.
Their first question was.......what website is that your talking about The second question was.....are you on any medication Their final question before charging me with wasting police time was.........can we speak to the person that looks after you

Just seen my nearest farmer neighbour take delivery of a load of fertiliser; he'd a load of diesel last year! If I shop him will I have to pay for my neeps & tatties?

I had a neighbour move in a few doors down two years back.
In that time he's already asked me to stop shooting my air rifle (at paper targets) in my half-acre back garden.
He then suggested (but very weakly) that his cat had been shot only last week and then tailed off to let me form my own conclusions about a visit from the police. In point of fact his cat has never been shot - I see it every day and make a fuss of it - indeed it spends most of its days sitting on my patio table. It was plain lying as a tool to get his own way was not a problem for him.

He's complained my Land Rover lowers the tone - although he's fine with the Porsche - he actually said it like that.

He's accused me of revving my Harley late at night. (never happens) and suggested I push the bike out to the main road to start it.
In point of fact he was confusing me with a chap on an old Jota that visits his girlfriend in the next street. I informed him of this. That made no difference.

One evening, when I was out, he knocked on the door to complain and found my elderly disabled parents were staying. When they told him his accusations were nonsense he actually pushed past them, entered my home, and marched up and down in the hallway swearing like a trooper - he scared the s*** out of them.

When I returned he knocked on the door again, denied everything, then accused my old mum of using foul language. He then went off on one and jammed his foot in the door and refused to leave. At that point we had to call the police. I'd have loved to have dealt with it otherwise but, you know, holding a FAC actually makes us vulnerable to life's skid-marks like this and we're obliged to contain ourselves where others are free to do what comes natural.

The country is filled with dicks like my neighbour - can you imagine how many false claims the police will get with this nasty little Informant's Charter to settle petty grudges?

Fortunately I've always kept my loading and unloading of the car for a shoot very discrete - otherwise I'm sure I could look forward to some harassment.

Been down this road with the false allegation. It does happen and I wonder how often?

How we all laughed after I was "ambushed" by four or five police cars and armed response. When I spotted the first car parked in a side road I knew what was about to happen.

A little disconcerting having to walk towards armed officers hands up.

This terrorist hotline will have the potential to be flooded with calls which will then be handed down to plod to sort out which will result in chaos.
Crime will rise due to all plods time being taken up with the more important terrorist threat down the road.
The media will report all the false positives as real terrorist threats which have been reported and thwarted.
Big pats on the back all round and another "successful" department set up which reports threats every day.

Keep a written record of all his 'Complaints' and ridiculous behavior. See if he is harassing any other neighbours. If you can find out where he moved from it might be worth speaking to some of his previous neighbours to see if he was an arse there.

My advice to club members - if you have a problem talk to your FLO, not the CT they do not talk to each other. FLOs inherit the mess CT create. If you have an an allegation made talk to your FLO, if CT turn up call your FLO. & if any one threatens to make an anonymous report tell them A. its not police can log all the IP etc & coded addresses & can trace it to you (who cares if true or not they wont know) and B. as a member of an NGO you are insured to take people who malicious reports to task & its is policy to do so to prevent further abuse (who cares if true or not they will think twice).

NB you can use the anonymous report form to complain about the policy & wording then it opens up a compliant form about the web page you can do both all night long!

The text has changed but not in the pdf download posters & leaflets. However most joe public cant tell the difference between a nerf gun & an illegal firearm & many think all firearms were banned anyway!? fat lot of good that definition will do for us!

Clubs should not cooperate with this CT lot they are like the stazi state!

Guys n Gals I think it was probably an honest mistake, considering the context of the list and the web page taken as a whole they were referring to illegal weapons. Considering the speed they made a change they either noticed it or more than likely got several complaints and changed it quick smart.

Sometimes I think we can be a bit too knee-jerk when it comes to conclusions about anything to do with the government.

I think the wider question is...is this even necessary as a campaign?! It is not as if the public is not aware of the ongoing terrorist threat from various extremists of a certain Abrahamic religion!

I am sure the pblic are well aware, they'tre just scard to talk about it as it isn't PC!

We'll leave out the "living in denial" lot who think only the police need to worry about it as "it's their job".. We all know on here that security is everyones problem.
