I totally agree with the different disciplines for 22lr

slot 1 is my vermin gun (3 years ago)
slot 2 my scoped bolt target gun (2 years ago)
slot 3 semi auto target vintage (last year but has changed 3 times)
slot 4 my vintage bolt target gun (as yet unfilled)

Slot 5 will be my target repeater/ gallery (probably pump) but ill get that next year

I've never had a problem and my approach is to get one a year as you can see.

The only issues i have had are when i wanted to do muzzle loading rifle, as no club nearby it wasnt deemed appropriate on my 12 acre permission........
so i got myself a 577 enfield shotgun and its great fun

Cheerho

I've always found the easiest way to increase authorisations is simply a case of use what you've already been granted. Fill your .22 slots, then one for one vacant slots for .22s. To get a larger ammunition authorisation, simply max out with ammo on your ticket then shoot it all in a very short time. Max out again, then shoot it all, max out again, shoot it all. Difficult for an FEO to argue if you've filled your slots and are buying several thousand rounds a month.

Apply for more variations when you still have open slots gives an FEO an easy position to deny...

Then you must have lied to the FEO and probably don't have the need for each one (regular use could be practice for said discipline - I have one rifle I only use once or occasionally twice a year in historic comps that aren't organised often).
If 'Target Shooting' doesn't cut the mustard with the FEO and you don't know (or can't state) what you want each one for then I suggest you actually don't need them.
Not at all. Quite the opposite. I don't know how you managed to extrapolate that from what I posted. If anything I said don't lie and just keep things simple.
Despite your rather insulting and completely unjustified accusation I will dignify you with a reply.

I live in the Thames Valley area - where even a simple variation of a long standing FAC (30 years long in my case) can easily take four months and a renewal over a year. With such long turnarounds it pays not to overly complicate things and risk extending an already absurdly long process. Target shooting is what I do. I regularly compete too. I like to shoot various actions and, indeed, different rifles with the same actions for the sheer hell of it. I don't shoot many different types of competition though, mostly local and postal small bore comps. We have few ranges nearby beyond 25 yards. Choice is limited. There are opportunities for bunny bashing etc. but I don't kill things for fun.
Sorry if that offends you.

In truth all shooting is target shooting - unless you're wildly shooting into the air, I suppose.
Some people feel the need to make out an overly complicated application for variations - thinking that unless they push the boat out on need that they will be denied. However, if you take that route you then have to actually follow through with what you've said on paper with each and every rifle. Despite best intentions that can be difficult if you live a distance from various ranges where those disciplines are practised and have family responsibilities that pop up and introduce interruptions.

However, if you keep things simple and just put target shooting and have access to a range where you can punch paper on a regular basis with those various .22 that is sufficient good reason and sustainable.

I'm not sure what to make of someone who makes unjustifiable and insulting accusations from the safe side of a monitor screen.
I guess you're akin to the almost road-rager. Beside yourself with rage that somebody slighted you in some way but not willing to risk a confrontation directly. So you wait until the driver turns off into a side road and then stand on your horn and flip the finger.
See what I did there? I just made stuff up out of thin air without a shred of evidence. Just like you. Or maybe you're just not very good at reading comprehension.

i put in for two additional 22 and got a call asking why i wanted 5 in total .i told them scoped and iron sight bolt and semi and lever action to go with the marlin 'collection ' asked to put it in writing to confirm and it was agreed that it would be ok over the phone
