Maybe we should start calling his collection "fake" Winchesters and Henrys.

One thing is for certain they are not genuine Henry's or Winchesters but even though they do function almost exactly the same as the originals they don't pretend to be original but are what they say they are pretty good reproductions.

They are what they are, so call them what you will, it bothers me not a jot! green55

Just to correct your comments, my AR-15 Clone is actually a "Spikes Tactical ST-22", so therefore its not an original and does not pretend to be original but it is what they say they are pretty good reproduction.

My ST-22 accepts a lot of the AR-15 / M4 / M16 aftermarket parts and also orginal parts too, as I am sure that your Henrys / Winchesters / Ubertis /Rossis do too.

Actually thinking about it isn't a Winchester actually a Pretendy Henry?

It seems you are quite happy to provoke controversy on your forum and when its gets too difficult your like to lock down threads.

The pretendy refers to the fact that UK ARs are not gas operated semi/full auto firearms like the real ARs and their clones. Here in the UK the best we can do is straight pull look a likes that do not function like the original that is reason I see them as pretendy, refer to then as straight pulls on an AR platform or whatever and I have no grief with that as that is what they are.

That is my take on it, if people want to think Winchesters are pretendy Henrys, replicas as fakes or whatever else I'm not going loose any sleep over it, continually spit out dummies over it, keep gurning on about it or look to have a go at any opportunity as some of our pretendy AR owners choose to do.

No offence is intended but if people choose to be offended by my view then that is up to them but it certainly isn't going to change my view.

Straight pull firearms on an AR platform are great guns, give people a lot of pleasure and seem to have found a competitive niche for themselves here which is all to the good, but they are not to be confused with the real gas operated ARs. This is my view which I am fully entitled to and which other people are fully entitled to disagree with. Just hacking it over and over again however is an exercise in futility as it won't change my view or stop my use of the word "pretendy" in relation to UK legal section 1 versions of semi and full auto firearms.

Dromia,

I am not asking you to change your views and to be honest I wouldn't want too as we are a country with free (ish) speech, I am just suggesting that you don't try and wind people up, as a Site Owner / Moderator / Admin surely you should be leading by example and not winding people up and then locking threads as they get out of hand after your input!

You have your views, as do many have their own views on subjects, but they don't try and ram it down other peoples throats and wind them up.

Maybe you should look again, I have an ST-22 not an Armalite 15, it is a semi auto firearm and not a conversation, just looks like an Armalite 15. Following your ideas then the following qualify as Pretendy:

Walther UZI .22
GSG-5
GSG AK-47 .22
H&K 416 .22
H&K mp5 .22
ISSC MK22
Sig 522
Ruger 10/22 (as its based on the M1 Carbine)
Chippa M1 Carbine
Winchesters
Rossi Underlevers
Uberti Underlevers
ARMSCOR - Various
Rossi Pump .22's as they are a clone of Winchester Pumps
How about any bolt action as basically they all copied one design from the outset, bolt firing pin, firing mechanism and tube for the projectile to be housed in
All Shotguns - very very similar to a brown bess
Various black powder repoductions out there too

To name but a few
