Only by £1546! :o

AI AT 24" or 26" threaded currently listed at £3429.

Oddly enough in the review of the Steel Core they don't mention barrel length, only to say that a shorter 20" is available.
Mine is 26" with a 1:11 twist.

It came with bipod, monopod, 20MOA rail and cleaning kit. Not sure if AI includes those in the list price.

The AI is a fine piece of kit but everyone I know has one and I've always worried about leaving the range with someone else's rifle :o

Ooooh, catty! :D

I know everyone seems to have one but there may well be a reason for it.

I have to confess I have revisted that website you posted more than once...

Trouble is that we are now getting to DSR money and they are lovely to...

I keep looking at Al's - I really do want one, but I am still at the "it seems a lot of money stage". However, just looked at the price of the DSR-1 on Gun Trader - at £10,995. it makes the Al look cheap :D

I was the same before I bought mine, then you look how much others are spending on a custom Remington 700's, nearly has much as an AI (and an AI will always have a better secondhand value). If you can, look for a second hand AI AT (seen them go for £2600-£2800).

I'm not quite sure it would. Having just picked up an AT and as luck would have it a .260 barrel to go with it, the costs of these new and what you can get them for second hand are quite different.

The pounds lost along the way I think is called enjoyment... just make sure you enjoy it enough lol

What's the difference in performance between the 24 and 26 inch barrels?
If memory serves me correctly, the 26 comes with a brake but the 24 doesn't.
Brake aside...why would you choose one over the other?

Velocity ....

And that then depends on the ammunition that's being used / bullet weight, powder and the calibre.

Trade off for around 6" to 20" is a few hundred FPS, in .260 Remington and with 142 is less than 50 FPS.

If you are shooting less than 1000m there is arguably little difference, its about keeping the round ideally supersonic for your whole target distance.
