thus far we have introduced 22 new members to the sport,
that is a spendid result - well done
How did you go about it ? open day ? that sort of thing ?

We are a commercial range so we offer taster sessions for people to have a go with a .22, then we have longer sessions for them to try different kinds of shooting, this progresses onto full training days (with sit down examinations that candidates must pass) and on going mentorship programs where we literally guide new shooters along the path of target shooting and they progress to applying for their own firearm licence. Obviously none of this is possible as a Home Office Club so its run under our commercial side so we comply with the Firearms Act.

22 members is a great effort. My club actively promotes its provisional membership through its probationary period to be full members.

It takes lots of work to get new members and keep them!

Maybe a video following a new shooter would be a good addition to your line up so potential new shooters see what’s involved?

Just out of interest how do you plan filming CSR, are you going to use regular CSR shooters?

We ran out of time for CSR, just finished, 10 hours filming is enough I think!

What we are going to do is an urban contact cof (100m run down to 25m).

Did 10 hours cover all those topics?

Not quite, ran out of time so we decided to separate out the tech features to a different format. We didn’t do csr but got most of it. This run is the short intro stuff for non shooters, the next run goes into more detail per area and we will mix in tech features such as gun strip downs and some skills training type stuff. We recorded about 2hrs of footage so 3-4 minutes per program we got about 10-11 shows.

I don’t think people appreciate how much footage is required for such a short amount of actual play time!

I was shattered, I’ve done tv work before but never shot a lot of different sections in one day before, so not sure how good it will be......but it’s a start.
