Luckily I brought mine back from the US a couple of years ago at about 1/2 the price they are here!.

A very adjustable bit of kit, can be used prone, sitting or standing.
How stable are they.

I've had an absolute nightmare booking at Bisley. Does anyone else ever have issues like this? In summary:

Wednesday last week - Login in the morning, make booking to shoot smokless and black powder (BP) for an hour at an electronic on Short Siberia on the 30th at 100.
Thursday AM - Response that I cannot shoot BP on electronics but that manual targets were available at 200x on Century for BP (my fault, I wasn't aware).
Thursday AM - Book again immediately at 100x on Siberia without the BP box ticked, happy to leave the Sharps at home.
Thursday PM - No response.
Friday AM - I call and am told I need to book again online, so I login, book Siberia again and wait.
Friday AM - Declined, only electronics at 200x on Century available with a link to a spreadsheet showing availability which only shows AM and PM, not hour slots.
Friday AM - Book again for 200x on Century and wait.
Today AM - Response at 0730 that it is no longer available but alternative slot 4 hours later is available and that as I am now making a short notice booking, no benches will be available.
Today AM - Logged in at 0900, look at the availability tracker and see it is all now red and not available. I see that the electronics are available on Thursday so booked those at 1030
Today PM - No response

I'm guessing I'll get an answer tomorrow?

Trying to book a slot around work, plan it in and having to wait 24hrs for an answer is annoying. My local range used to be 'turn up and shoot' but Covid meant they had to implement a online booking system. It is far superior to the NRA's... You login, pick a date, pick which range you want to shoot on, it shows you availability, live, in 1 hour slots. You pick your slot, you put in your card details and that is it. Booked and done.

Am I missing something, or is it just a really outdated way of doing it? Please, if I am being a massive idiot and doing something wrong can someone please tell me wallhead

I have never been to Bisley and have never tried to book any thing there so I can not help you I am afraid. But it sounds like a not very good system to me.

I only book MOD ranges in the North east of England through Landmarc. I am on first name terms with the Ladies in the booking office. I just ring them up and we sort it out over the phone then I submit the paper work to her. I have ten ranges confirmed between now and August. I will be ringing her this week and booking up till December now I know we are going ahead with shooting.

I was having a chat with the Range Office folks, they are very busy and they used the word "Fraught" as a lot of bookings.

I wish for the fixed distances (Short Siberia, Melville, Winnans, Cheyslmore and the fixed electronics at 100, 600 and 1,000 on Century / Stickledown) there was an automated system.

I shoot with 2 other clubs who have electronic booking systems. We've found it takes the weight off people for booking and makes it a lot easier to arrange shooting.

“Fraught”?! What the F did they expect...?!
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

I still haven't had a response... That's 6 days to try and book a 1 hour slot.

I've sent an email to the NRA main email suggesting investing in an automated system that books it for them without the need for the range staff to manually add and respond to each request. If my tiny little local club can do it, I'm sure they can too :good:

Was out shooting clays yesterday and will be returning to centrefire mid-April. Don't know when the local rimfire club is re-opening, that one's down to the relevant committee members.
