Aha, then I already have the new type. Just one e-clip on mine. Gonna make sure it's well lubed and clean and try again with some different ammo.

Isn't it just. New toy doesn't work as I expected. Not very useful. I'm sure I'll get it sorted one way or another though.

Double discharges....don't blame you, I wouldn't want to shoot it either!

Years ago an over and under Browning used to double occasionally, a lovely shotgun spoilt by it's bad habit, it very quickly changed hands where the new owner tried different cartridges to no avail and sold it at a profit where the process was repeated, it moved three times before someone was inspired enough to take it to a gunsmith who charged fifty quid to put it right and the eventual owner was rather happy, the odd thing was it went up in price each time it was moved on...

I never could get my head around such logic. I did shoot it on one occasion and did not like the light trigger and niggling worry that it was going to let go with both barrels.

Gunsmiths are a bone of contention with me at the moment as I paid £300 to get both our shotguns fitted, I had about 3 inches added to the stock and kick-ezz recoil pad fitted on mine, which was ok until the other day when I thought I would take the stock off to have a look at the trigger and action to see if any visible reason for the double discharge to find that the gunsmith (highly recommended to me and ex Holland & Holland) had glued the stock extension and recoil pad together to the stock, so I couldn't get to the stock bolt without cutting off the recoil pad (£50 for a new one that will need to be trimmed to fit) and drilling through the stock extension to get to the f'ing bolt. No obvious signs of problems but gave everything a clean and sharpened up some rounded edges on the sears for better engagement, fingers crossed that it's cured when I next try it out, couldn't believe how simple and basic the action/triggers were and couldn't believe the gunsmith had glued everything together .

I have seen a couple of rifles in this last month alone that have made me wince which is why I am quite choosy about what I do and who I do it for.

Very nice Judders and great fun to shoot mate. The one I have will eat up anything without jams or stoppages. If you can get your hands on some Winchester 333 ammo give it a try, my rifle loves it and it is pretty cheap as well as being super accurate.
